Boys Christening Cake Decorations

I was asked to make these little boys Christening cake decorations for a returning customer who had previous had some golf cake decorations & some sugar lilies made for cakes that she had made herself.

The brief this time was for me to incorporate a teddy bear, a cross & some baby blocks spelling out the little boys name, all with a baby blue, white & silver theme.

I decided to have the teddy bear clutching the cross & also gave him a cute little baby blanket.

Everything was made using marshmallow fondant modeling paste & finished off with edible lustre dusts for an extra shimmer.

Also included were some baby block faces to go around the cake as the border.  For these I used hearts, stars, crosses & the first initial of the little boy.

I thought it would be a nice idea as well to make some of those border block faces spell out the date of the Christening & so I highlighted them in silver to match the other blocks with the name on & make them stand out from the other a little.

Sugar Flowers - Lilies

I was asked to make some sugar lilies for a lady that is making her own cake but wanted some beautiful sugar versions of her daughter's favourite flowers to decorate it with.

These type of flowers are very popular for weddings & look absolutely stunning on a wedding cake.

They sure are a LOT of work but the results are well & truly worth it I think!

Golf Cake Decorations

For this project I was asked by a lady that has just begun to try her hand at cake decorating to make some decorations for her next cake which was to be a golf cake for her husband, I was of course happy to do this.

I was asked to make a man playing golf, a birthday greeting & some golf balls so this is what I created.

I thought it would be a nice touch to have the birthday age on the flag as the 'hole number' & I also decided to make the background for the birthday greeting into flags as well to bring it all together. 

I made sure I asked what the birthday boy usually wore went he went golfing so that I could make the topper as personal as possible.  Everything was made from fondant & is edible except for the flagpole & the shaft of the golf club.

The golf balls (or half golf balls actually) were to be used for the cake border.

The great thing about toppers such as this golfer is although edible it can also be kept as a bit of a keepsake instead if you wish.

She was very happy with how they turned out & has asked me to make some more toppers for the next cake she is doing.

Year 12 Graduation Cupcake Toppers

Recently it was that very special time of the year for all year 12 students here in Australia, graduation which means lots of school formals & parties.

A customer was having a party for her daughter & her daughters boy friend for their year 12 graduation & wanted something special to mark the event.

They were making their own cupcakes but wanted them to really stand out so requested me to design some graduation cupcake toppers for them so this is what I created.

They wanted 1 dozen so I made 5 graduation caps, 5 scrolls & 2 message toppers.

All were made using home made marshmallow fondant sugarpaste & the lovely teal colour was chosen to match the colour of the young ladies formal dress.

I embossed all the caps with '2009' to signify that they were the class of 2009.  The message toppers I embossed with congrats & their names & finished them with little streamers & 'confetti' (which were sugar pearls).

As a little free extra I also made the customer up some matching teal sugar crystal sprinkles for her cupcakes just to really complete the look for them.

One fantastic thing about toppers is although they are usually entirely edible they can also be kept indefinitely as a keepsake of a special occasion or event to preserve the memory for ever, this is particularly great for engagements, weddings, 21st birthday etc. Simply removed from the top of your cake, leave to air dry completely & place into a beautiful box or display cabinet.

Anything is possible from characters, people & animals to flowers, insects & foods as well as any objects such as footballs, fishing rods, tiaras/crowns & also business, corporate & fundraising logos the list is truly endless, anything you can imagine I can create for you!
