Blues Clues Puppy Dog Birthday Cupcakes & Cookies

This order was very similar to another one I did for a little girls 1st birthday which had a butterflies & blossoms theme in fact this client was a guest at that particular party & later contacted me about having something along the same lines for her son's 1st birthday.

This time the theme for the party was going to be puppy dogs (Blues Clues in particular) with a colour scheme of blue & white so here is what I created for her little birthday boy.

First up we have the puppy faces.

I also made some paw prints.

& here you can see the 4 special toppers I made 3 with a happy birthday message on large paw print shapes & 1 special puppy for the birthday boy.

There were 5 dozen cupcakes all up & they were all 'Blondie' (vanilla butter cake) with a smooth & silky vanilla Italian Meringue buttercream.  I then added some blue sugar sprinkles before finishing each one with it's topper.  All of the toppers were completely edible & handmade by me using marshmallow fondant

Here's a close up of the special puppy for the birthday boy.

As with the other order this order also included lots of wonderful cookie gift/favour bags for the party guests to take as a really lovely & unique way to say thank you for celebrating our little boys birthday with us.  Each bag contained one large blue paw print shaped vanilla sugar cookie decorated with almond royal icing & marshmallow fondant.

Again they also hired one of my large cupcake stands to display the cupcakes in a lovely cupcake tower fashion which is a wonderful way to showcase them & makes a great impact.

You can just about see the cookie gift bags in the bottom left corner of these shots.

Christmas Cookie Gift Bags

Seasons greetings everyone!

This selection of fun Christmas cookies were placed as an order to be cookie gift bags for the customer's two sons to hand out at school & day care at the end of term, what a lovely thoughtful idea.

I decided to stick to the classic Christmas colours of red, green & white & so the designs I created were poinsettias, holly, Christmas trees, Santa bellies, Christmas pudding, candy canes, presents, snowmen, snowflakes, crackers, stockings & wreaths.

They were vanilla sugar cookies with peppermint royal icing which I thought would suit a Christmas theme nicely (like peppermint candy canes).

I also incorporated some small marshmallow fondant touches on a few of the cookies such as the star on the top of the trees, snowman's buttons, hat & scarf, the holly on the Christmas puddings & the bows on the presents & wreaths.

The 3D effect of the white "fluff" on Santa's bellies & the top of the stockings I achieved by roughing up the semi dry royal icing & then finishing off with some sanding sugar on top.

The cookies were of course all placed into individual clear cellophane bags, tied with red & green ribbon & had a gift tag attached saying "Merry Christmas from ........." but unfortunately I didn't get a photo of them once bagged.

Here are a few close ups.....

Merry Christmas to all!

Wedding Cake Cookie Favors

These lovely sweet sugar cookies in the style of wedding cakes are really perfect to use as bombonieres or favours for your guests at a wedding & can be easily decorated to match the actual wedding cake.

They look very special when individually wrapped in clear bags with a lovely matching ribbon & a personal message tag from the bride & groom.

The cookie cakes can of course also be adapted to to use at other events such as engagements & birthdays simply by changing the decorating design to match the special occasions cake.

Butterfly & Blossom Birthday Cupcakes & Cookies

This latest order was to celebrate a special little girls 1st birthday with some very special cupcakes & cookies.

The client requested a theme of lots of pretty pink & butterflies & also pointed out some flowers that she had seen & loved on a previous post for vanilla floral cupcakes.  I also incorporated just a small amount of purple to give a little contrast to the pinks. They turned out so beautiful & girly, just right for a gorgeous little princess' 1st birthday I think.

There were 5 dozen cupcakes all up I couldn't quite get them all in the photo but don't they look totally yummy all lined up in rows like that.

The cake for these cupcakes was 'Confetti' (speckled vanilla butter cake).  The 'confetti' effect meant that there are little tiny flecks of bright colours all through the cake which looks like confetti, this was a great choice as it is always a big hit with children.  The frosting was a smooth & silky vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream.

As well as all the butterfly & blossom toppers I also included a set of 3 special toppers with a message which read HAPPY BIRTHDAY 1 on top of a flower shaped cutouts & were then finished with tiny flowers & butterflies.

The delicate blossoms & butterflies that topped each cupcake I created using homemade marshmallow sugarpaste & finished with accents & highlights using edible petal dusts, lustre dusts, & sugar pearls.

I made a few different styles flowers but mainly focused on the one which the client had seen before & liked so much & made it in a variety of sizes & in 2 shades of pink.

The butterflies I crafted in 3 different sizes in order to compliment the various size flowers.  The largest butterflies had room for the most detail & decorations & I finished these in a more 'whimsical' style complete with little eyes & smiles as I thought this would be more appropriate for a young child's cake.

This order also included lots of wonderful cookie gift/favour bags for the party guests to take as a really lovely & unique way to say thank you for celebrating our little girls birthday with us.

The pink & butterfly theme was continued on with the cookies.  They were almond flavoured sugar cookies flooded with pink raspberry flavoured royal icing.  I made the butterflies bodies using marshmallow fondant & decorated the spots on the wings with tiny sugar pearls.

Each individual cookie was placed into it's own cellophane sleeve, tied with a matching ribbon & finished with a tag featuring a thank you message.

For this order they also hired one of my large cupcake stands to display the cupcakes in a lovely cupcake tower fashion & they were kind enough to forward on some great photos to me of the cupcakes all set up on the stand.  Thank you.

I just love this one with young lady checking out the cupcakes.  Hopefully she is thinking I can't wait to have one of those.  Perhaps she is picking out the one she wants.

If you look very carefully in these shots you can see the confetti effect in the cake.

The customer was very happy with the cupcakes & cookies & I received some fantastic feedback as well as a lot of word of mouth orders from her daughter's birthday party.

Stacked Cookie "Cakes"

What could be better than cookies..... well cookies & cake all rolled into one of course!

How cute are these miniature tiered cakes made from sugar cookies.

They are good for any occasion but are particularly great to use as bombonieres or favours for guests at weddings. The wonderful thing is that they can be made to look just like the bride & grooms real cake.

These ones were almond sugar cookies flooded with different colour vanilla royal icing but any flavours can be used.  They are then stacked on top of each other & held together with a little more royal icing to create the look of a cake.

And finally I simply decorate them to fit the required theme or colour scheme using marshmallow fondant flowers or any other toppers required.  These ones featured miniature frangipanis, general blossoms & ribbon roses.

Fathers Day Cookies for Dad

Now lets see what should we get dad this Fathers Day. Socks, undies, a tie, a worlds best dad mug, no how about some yummy cookies instead.

These special Fathers Day design sugar cookies were vanilla flavour & decorated using a mixture of lemon flavoured royal icing & marshmallow fondant.

Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it's Superdad!

We all know that dad is a star.

The perfect way to say I Love You Dad.

I ended up using the superdad designed cookie as inspirantion for the Fathers Day Cake that I made.

I made an extra batch of these cookies & packaged them up into little gift bags so that my daughter could take them into school & hand them out to her classmates to give to their dads on Fathers Day.
Much to my surprise I received a beautiful thank you card today signed by all of the children in the class, it was really lovely.

Cookie Gift Bags/Favours

Here are some examples of various decorated sugar cookies that I can make for gift bags or favours for your event.

This is however just a very small representation of what I can create & really anything is possible, from wedding cakes to baby bottles to awareness ribbons the sky's the limit!
These cookies were a chocolate flavour sugar cookie & they are all decorated with a combination of vanilla royal icing & marshmallow fondant.

If the cookies are for party favors I generally like to design two individual cookies with one theme in mind so that they that compliment each other.

However it they are for a party table or a thank you gift etc I can also create an array of different cookies revolved around a specific theme to form a cookie platter.

Because these type of cookies can be easily personalised to suit any theme or occasion it makes them just perfect for celebrations like baby showers, birthdays, mothers & fathers days, engagements, wedding etc.

When packaged in pairs into cute little bags with some lovely ribbon they make really beautiful party favors for your guests.
