Treats for Mum & Bub - Baby Cookies

How about some beautiful baby cookies for a brand new mum to celebrate the arrival of her wonderful bundle of joy.

These are sugar cookies decorated using a mixture of royal icing & marshmallow fondant.

A pink theme for a baby girl

Notice the pink bow in the baby's hair & the tiny pink flowers on the teddy bear & around the rubber ducks neck.

A blue for a boy theme next.

This time the teddy bear & rubber duck are wearing tiny blue bow ties.

And if the sex of the baby is not known at the time of your order then a neutral yellow & green theme works great too.

Here are some close ups so you can see some of my favourite details on the cookies.

The rosy cheeks of the baby faces & the dummies,

the bubbles on the rubber ducks

& the tiny silver cachous that I used for press studs on the oneies.

Stacked Cookie "Cakes"

What could be better than cookies..... well cookies & cake all rolled into one of course!

How cute are these miniature tiered cakes made from sugar cookies.

They are good for any occasion but are particularly great to use as bombonieres or favours for guests at weddings. The wonderful thing is that they can be made to look just like the bride & grooms real cake.

These ones were almond sugar cookies flooded with different colour vanilla royal icing but any flavours can be used.  They are then stacked on top of each other & held together with a little more royal icing to create the look of a cake.

And finally I simply decorate them to fit the required theme or colour scheme using marshmallow fondant flowers or any other toppers required.  These ones featured miniature frangipanis, general blossoms & ribbon roses.

Superdad Fathers Day Cake

Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it's Superdad!

This great Fathers Day cake was fairly simple in design but was very effective I think. I simply took the superman symbol/emblem & replaced the 'S' for superman with the word 'DAD' in honour of the lucky father.

The inspiration for this cake came from a separate order for some Fathers Day sugar cookies, in which I did 3 different dad designs one of which was the superdad cookie.

Probably the biggest obstacle I faced with this particular cake was transporting the red letters & border that I carved out of fondant onto the cake without it breaking into little bits which actually proved to be fairly tricky but I managed it in the end & I was happy with the results.

This cake was 'Midnight Delight' a lovely rich, moist dark chocolate mud cake with a decadent whipped chocolate ganache frosting, all covered in yummy homemade marshmallow fondant & finished with the superdad logo, boarder of balls & "Happy Fathers Day" message all in more marshmallow fondant. It started out as a 10" square shape before shaped & would yield approx 45 regular serves.

So don't forget that sometimes even dad needs a little spoiling & dads like yummy cake too!

Fathers Day Cookies for Dad

Now lets see what should we get dad this Fathers Day. Socks, undies, a tie, a worlds best dad mug, no how about some yummy cookies instead.

These special Fathers Day design sugar cookies were vanilla flavour & decorated using a mixture of lemon flavoured royal icing & marshmallow fondant.

Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it's Superdad!

We all know that dad is a star.

The perfect way to say I Love You Dad.

I ended up using the superdad designed cookie as inspirantion for the Fathers Day Cake that I made.

I made an extra batch of these cookies & packaged them up into little gift bags so that my daughter could take them into school & hand them out to her classmates to give to their dads on Fathers Day.
Much to my surprise I received a beautiful thank you card today signed by all of the children in the class, it was really lovely.

Daffodil Day Cupcakes - Cancer Awareness

I made these yummy cupcakes just to have at home for friends, family & visitors to enjoy with the aim of promoting awareness for the Cancer Councils daffodil day. Cancer seem to touch all our lives in some way so it is important we all support such a wonderful cause in any way we can. You can learn more about daffodil day here on the Cancer Councils website.

I took my inspiration from the colours if the daffodil day logo & so I used bright yellow cupcake cases, bright blue buttercream, yellow sprinkles & of course a nice big daffodil.

The cupcakes cake was lemon zing with a vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream & the daffodils I created using marshmallow fondant.

Don't forget to support daffodil day!
